Fred with his awards
Fred with his awards

Hi I’m Ella, I live at Wold Newton and Fred Husband is my Grandad; he lives at Kirby Grindalythe. He won the really big shield at Scarborough which was just one of the many shows he enters his vegetables in. Every year he seems to enter more and more! Recently, he built a polytunnel to improve his vegetable growing.

Solstice Supper

27 June 2016 By Editor Leave a Comment

A wonderful evening was had by all who attended the Solstice Supper at Kirby Grindalythe Village Hall on Saturday 25th June.  Guests were greeted with a reception drink of Summer Fruit Punch. A delicious three course meal was then served in the village hall followed by the first public performance of a local band, the Trembling Wrinklies. £505.00 was raised in aid of the church. A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the arrangements particularly the catering staff. Thank you also for the donations from Albanwise and Scrutons.

Kirby Grindalythe Luncheon Club Christmas Lunch

10 December 2015 By Editor Leave a Comment

Kirby Grindalythe Luncheon Club held their Christmas Lunch on Friday 4th December. A wonderful time was had by all and as usual such good fun. 36 residents attended in total, the youngest being 5 months old and the eldest, not telling! A delicious turkey dinner was served followed by Christmas Pudding and Mince Pies. The afternoon was rounded off with a poem reading from Marylyn Clegg and a fantastic rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

There will be no luncheon club in January as the village hall is being redecorated, but we will start up again on the first Friday in February.

Many thanks to the North Yorkshire County Council’s Stronger Communities Program for their partial funding of this project.
